Announcements:

“Screenagers” Movie

On Sept. 19th (6:30pm) at the Topeka Fire Department, parents, students, teachers, and youth workers are invited to see, “Screenagers”, a documentary about the challenges of social media, video games, and internet addiction. This movie, presented by Reason 4 Hope ministries, will be a valuable resource to help kids and adults find balance in this area. Reason 4 Hope will also present “Parent Talk and Technology”, featuring Brenda Yoder at Marion Christian Fellowship on Sunday Sept. 30th from 3:00-5:00pm. This event will help equip parents in navigating today’s digital landscape and further discuss solutions in finding balance.

 

Topeka Food Pantry

NLF is in charge of filling the Topeka Food Pantry for the month of September. You may place non-perishable items you wish to donate in the shopping cart in the foyer. Contact Vern Miller for more info.

 

Women’s Life

Women’s Coffee/Breakfast meets Wednesday mornings at 8:30 am at Country Corral in Shipshewana. Ladies Scrapbooking & Crafts meets at NLF on the second Saturday of each month at 9am.

 

Women’s Bible Studies will begin meeting on Monday, September 17th. “Everyday Godly Living”, based on Titus 2:1, 3-5, will be offered on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm and is especially for mothers with children in the home. “Faithful, Abundant, True” will be offered on Monday mornings from 9:45-11:45am and Monday evenings from 6:30-8pm. This study will feature Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, and Priscilla Shirer speaking on different aspects of the Holy Spirit. Please visit the Women’s Ministry table for more information and to sign up for either of these studies.

 

Men’s Life

Men’s basketball (Hoops & Prayer) meets on Monday evenings at 7 pm at Chuck Christner’s. Contact Pastor Jordan for more info.

Clara Miller will be traveling to Moldova on September 11th. NLF continues to support this ministry to widows and families in Moldova. To join in the NLF outreach, you may give money for Bibles ($5 each). Make your check out to Cross Links and place in one of our offering boxes.

Journey Group Sunday

Our groups are launching in mid-September! We believe relationships with others gives us the best opportunity to take steps in becoming more like Jesus. Next Sunday, Sept. 9th, will be Journey Group Sunday. We will commission our NLF group leaders during the morning worship service and have information available about all of our Journey groups.

New Life will be taking a missions trip to Rocky Point, Mexico on Nov. 21-26. This family-friendly missions opportunity allows participants to work alongside a family to help construct a home for them. No previous skill or experience is needed. Please contact Jess Mast for more info.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer will resume meeting on Friday, August 24th at 9am. This group meets every other Friday here at NLF to pray for their school age children and local schools. All moms are invited! Please contact Carrie Clark for more information.

 

Grief Share

A new session of Grief Share will be offered on Tuesday evenings from Aug. 28-Nov. 20 at 6:00pm each evening. Grief Share is a 13-week DVD series that features Biblical concepts to help you heal from your grief. This group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and have successfully rebuilt their lives. If you would like to participate in Grief Share, please visit the Info Desk for more info, or contact Vern and Erma Miller. This group will meet at Townline Church (2165 South 1000 West, Shipshewana).

 

Benefit for Grant Newcomer Family

There will be a benefit for the family of Grant Newcomer on August 30th from 11am -3pm. This event, a chicken barbeque and bake sale, will be held in the KZ RV event room. To purchase tickets or for more information, please contact Melisa Lewton.
